From Ashes To Embers

On the eve of Christmas 2022 an untimely spark sent an era into a blaze. Within a matter of hours the cafe at Homestead Heritage was burnt to the ground with only the rock chimney still standing. Cafe Homestead was highly rated and much loved by locals and people around the world for nearly 30 years. Though tragic, this unfortunate loss set the resolve of a community to rebuild and make it better.
As plans for the new cafe progressed a choice was made to populate the interior of the building with high quality items handmade by local crafts people. From the tables to the lighting and yes, even the chairs.
This is where Blake and Jason come into the picture. We started with a design based on a prototype that was built, revised and approved in about 10 days! We were commissioned to build 120 chairs in about 100 days. It was no easy feat and required the participation from many people but through the fire friendships were forged, memories made and an extremely durable and elegant chair “The Ember” was born.

And now, more than a year later and a lot of fine adjustments and revision we are excited to provide a detailed set of plans so that you can build your own set of heirloom chairs.

Plans are expertly drawn by our close friend and chairmaker Joe Bass.
